Bored Ape Kennel Club

Yuga Labs, the creators of BAYC and ApeCoin, announced the Bored Ape Kennel Club (BAKC) NFT collection in June 2021. On the Ethereum blockchain, the BAKC is an NFT collection of 9,602 bizarre cartoon dogs, and it is a follow-up series to Yuga Labs' initial BAYC NFTs.

The BAKC dogs accompany their primate owners, displaying characteristics ranging from amusingly banal to entirely outrageous. The BAKC pets may be wearing a cowboy hat, carrying a tennis ball, having a third eye, or breathing fire in all photos featuring the Shiba Inu breed.

What distinguishes Bored Ape Kennel Club NFTs?

BAKC lore begins with the narrative of their fictitious "owners," the BAYC simians. The dogs in the BAKC NFT collection are the BAYC apes' pets. Like the apes, these dogs are drawn in an irreverent cartoon style. Each BAKC NFT is created by combining several features of varied rarity, including some unusual traits such as missile launchers and jetpacks.

The style is both futuristic and retro. Unlike the BAYC artwork, BAKC NFTs contain a variety of backgrounds ranging from a bar interior (the most common, appearing in 786 NFTs) to a swamp (the least common, ensuing in 2,426 NFTs).

What makes NFTs from the Bored Ape Kennel Club valuable?

BAKC's attraction originates mainly from the phenomenal success of BAYC, their parent NFT collection. BAKC gained rapid popularity due to its direct ancestry to the original BAYC collection.

BAKC has had significant success in its own right in the market. 101 BAKC NFTs were sold as a lot for more than $1.8 million at Sotheby's "Ape In!" sale in September 2021.

Some BAKC collectors value the social features of ownership, like invitations to global events and access to a private Discord chat room. BAKC owners have exclusive commercial rights to their NFTs, like the BAYC collection. This enables users to profit from their NFT investment potentially.

Sewer Pass

Sewer Passes are NFTs that Yuga Labs issued for free to holders of the BAYC and MAYC collections.

Sewer Passes were available for free from January 17th, 2023, and the minting procedure concluded on February 8th, 2023. Members of the BAYC and MAYC were entitled to one Sewer Pass apiece, with tiers ranging from 1 to 4 depending on the NFTs they had.

Owners of Sewer Passes could play Yuga Labs' infinite run game, Dookey Dash, between January 18th and February 8th, 2023, to get the best score possible.

Yuga Labs debuted Toad Mode on February 22nd, 2023, where only Sewer Passes without a score might improve their standing, allowing them a second chance to participate in The Summoning. They had until March 1st to increase their scores to collect as many toads as possible.

Subject to certain conditions

Yuga Labs has pulled off a masterstroke against competing marketplaces with its latest NFT collection, blacklisting wallets from LooksRare and NFTX. This is an attempt to increase payments for creators.

The smart contract that administers the Sewer Pass also contains precise rules that govern how they can be utilized. A code snippet restricts NFT sales to markets that charge author fees.

Tiers

Holders of: only the MAYC received tier 1, MAYC and the BAKC received tier 2, only the BAYC received tier 3, and both the BAYC and the BAKC received a tier 4 Sewer Pass. Tier 1 permitted the holder to play the game as is, while Tiers 2, 3, and 4 added 10%, 20%, and 30% to their final scores, respectively.

Summoning

The Summoning is a mysterious occurrence in which players who have completed Dookey Dash or Dookey Dash, Toad Mode with a score greater than 0 can change their Sewer Pass into an unknown "Power Source." Playing for a higher score was recommended since it determined the value and uniqueness of the reward obtained, which was an essential aspect of BAYC's first stage in their six-step roadmap: The Trial of Jimmy the Monkey.

The Summoning, initially set for March 7th, 2023, was postponed and held on March 15th, 2023, to ensure that all cheaters are barred from participating in the event and that all formalities are in order.
